JP Morgan analyst in hot water after Asda meeting
A JP Morgan analyst has been suspended after allegedly gate-crashing a private Asda supplier meeting.
Rickin Thakrar, in his mid-20s, wrote an explosive research note, revealing management thought stores had become “boring”, despite being explicitly banned from attending the event. He gleaned private information about the firm’s plans just days before it released its results. He has now been suspended by JP Morgan, which is said to be investigating the incident.
He attended Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, where he was an accomplished debater, before graduating with an MSc from the London School of Economics in 2006. He worked as an analyst at Redburn Partners for three years, where he also wrote research on food retailers. In October last year he joined JP Morgan as an associate in its consumer department.
